TO Design has been working to preserve and enhance Connecticut’s historic landscapes for almost 30 years. Firm Principal Phil Barlow coauthored the Trusts Town Green Survey and the State of Connecticut’s historic Municipal Park and Outdoor Sculpture Surveys.
The firm consistently works with historic parks, and other outdoor municipal spaces, preserving and protecting our states Green infrastructure.
Their work has been recognized with several preservation awards from the Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation.
Briefly describe any work done on historic buildings or homes:
Renovations to Hartford’s Old North Cemetery, including roadways, historic metals, monuments and planting. This project received a 2013 Merit award from the CT Trust for Historic Preservation Exterior Metals Renovations
Norwich City Hall. Working with a historic architect plans were provided for the repair and restoration of the monumental cast iron entrance stairway, fencing and other historic metals. This project received a 2014 Merit award from the CT Trust for Historic Preservation
Veterans Memorial Rehabilitations, New Britain, Connecticut. Four veteran’s memorials were rehabilitated including the historic World War Memorial in Walnut Hill Park (designed by Harold Van Buren Magonigle) and the Spanish American War Memorial at WillowBrook Park. Walnut Hill Park, New Britain. At New Britain’s beloved Olmsted park, TO Design has completed many historically sensitive projects since 1997.
