How To Use

The CT Architectural Records resource is divided into four parts: architects, firms, record locations and projects.

ARCHITECTS:
Biographical information on specific architects is entered unter the last name of the architect. Searchers can enter as little as the first four letters of the last name or the complete full name, last name first. Biographical information includes birth and death dates, practice dates and firm affiliation information, and Connecticut projects when known. When architectural records for an architect are known to exist, their location is provided under the name of the architect.

ARCHITECTURAL FIRMS:
Names of firms can be searched under the various forms of the firm name with links to the biographical information on architects who were part of the firm where known. When architectural records for a firm are known to exist, their location is provided under the name of the firm.

RECORD HOLDING INSTITUTION:
Determining record locations will be the major thrust of phase II of the evolution of the database. There are few record locations at the present time (February 2005).

PROJECTS:
Various buildings can be found by searching under the building name. If a building has changed names or has been known under various names there are usually "see" references from the alternate names of a building to the name of the building where information on the building can be found.
