Preservation Help

Protection and Preservation of Connecticut's Historic Places

The Connecticut Trust for Historic Preservation assists hundreds of people each year by answering their preservation questions. This assistance takes many forms, and includes supplying contact information, dispensing material and guidance on protecting historic properties and providing technical preservation resources to a large community. We respond to calls from citizens who need advice on saving an endangered historic property, listing sites as historically and architecturally significant and passing local preservation ordinances.

The CTHP also plays a significant role as an advocate for historic preservation. We have partnered with national and state organizations to successfully advocate the preservation of Connecticut's historic resources. This includes co-sponsoring workshops and conferences with the State Historic Preservation Office and partnering with the National Trust for Historic Preservation to educate and promote preservation, including the Connecticut Circuit Rider Program. The CTHP also advocates before the state legislature each year for community planning, historic districts and budget of the SHPO.
